Joaquin Salvador Lavado (Argentina,1932), mas conocido como Quino, es uno de los mas importantes humoristas gráficos y creador de historietas. Su obra mas famosa es la tira cómica Mafalda (publicada originalmente entre 1964 y 1973). Le llamaban Quino desde pequeño para distinguirle de su tÃo, el ilustrador Joaquin Tejón, que fue quien despertó su vocación de dibujante. El humor de Quino es tÃpicamente acido e incluso cÃnico, ahondando con frecuencia en la miseria y el absurdo de la condición humana, sin limites de clase. No duda asà en usar sus viñetas para enviar mensajes de contenido social a sus lectores. La óptica de Quino es probablemente debida a las vicisitudes de Argentina en los últimos cuarenta años. Su mezcla de pesimismo y humanismo es posiblemente una de las principales razones de su gran éxito en toda Latinoamérica.
